The dress is almost done. I feel like I've been saying that a lot lately; each stage feels like an accomplishment worth celebrating, and each time I get a bit more done I feel like it's really almost there. It does feel a bit like Zeno's Paradox, though; the idea that you can never actually get where you're going because you can continue to divide the distance in smaller and smaller halves.
Tonight, however, I really feel like it honestly and truly is pretty much done. I've finished re-making the corset; I've put together the things we'll need for Plan B (if necessary); the sash is done; and all I have left to do is:
* attach the sash to the dress,
* attach the corset layer to the dress,
* hem the sash ends once we decide where to cut them, and
* attach some hanging loops.
I recognize that list still seems significant, but all of those things will only take a few minutes of hand-sewing. So the fact that I'm 100% done with the sewing machine feels pretty good. It's looking so beautiful, but it's time for it to go and live with Karine now. I'll finish up these bits of hand-sewing, and then, at Thanksgiving, it will go to its rightful owner. That will be a big moment, but I think we'll all be glad once the dress is in Karine's hands.
